….Many people ask me “What is the soul like?”…and I say to them “The soul is like a flower bud, a delicate and fragile thing. If forced open too soon it will die…if left untended, it withers…and if trampled on by others it will perish”.

I see people as wild flowers, blooming where God planted them. God makes each one of us different, each one of us unique. If all flowers were the same…the same number of petals, the same color, the same scent, the same length…the same everything, then what a boring world this would be! How LACKING in beauty! How COMMON and DULL!

People’s souls are just like flowers. The reason some neglect their “Garden of the soul” is because they are afraid…yep…FEAR….they fear becoming different, of standing out from the others.

You know how you change that?

Yes, LOVE…love of SELF, love of GOD, love of OTHERS.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” -1 John 4:18

God did not make you to be afraid, He made you to be LOVED.

Now, I know many other clerics out there will shout “SINNER” and point a finger, showing you to be some flawed and imperfect thing…but not me…I see what a WONDROUS thing you are..how perfectly God crafted you…

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14

We are not made to be afraid of love..nor of living. Man has trodden down on our dreams and hopes, our faith and our lives for CENTURIES…telling us we are unworthy, we are sinners, we are not acceptable in God’s eyes…HOGWASH!

God crafted us out of love, He blessed us out of love, HE SENT HIS SON TO US TO DIE FOR OUR SINS OUT OF LOVE.

If we are so unworthy, how can it be He sacrificed HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON to encompass our redemption and allow us into His Heavenly Realm???

“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver.” -1 Peter 1:18

They tout how God sent His only begotten son here….hang on…Scripture speaks louder than I ….

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” 1 John 4:9-11

..And yet they keep pounding at us how we are not worthy?!?!?

Friends, God does not make mistakes…God does not create things He does not wish to see bloom. The evidence of this is by the diversity and sheer BEAUTY of all that He created around us. (not what MAN made, what GOD made…don’t even get me started on THAT diatribe! 😀 )

YOU are the flower in God’s garden…YOU are the beautiful color He chose and shaped…YOU ARE THE BEST FORM OF YOU THAT YOU CAN BE…I know..HE MADE YOU.

To tend this delicate bud of a soul you need only 4 things:

Faith in Him…for He is the author of your soul, the creator of your spirit, and the END in the argument about if you are worthy or not.

Trust..trust in Him to bring out your inner beauty. Trust that He knew what he was doing when He made you. Trust that whatever He does He does because He LOVES you, and only wants to see you fulfill your potential.

Understanding…Understand that people HATE anything that is not in line with THEIR ideals of what should be. And it is in that understanding that we see their venom for what it is…THEY ARE MORE AFRAID TO BE THEMSELVES THAN YOU ARE.

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood” – 1 John 4:4-6

…and finally,

A BACKBONE… Stand PROUD, for you are HIS creation…you are HIS child…you are HIS because you CAME FROM HIM.

How will you know if what THEY say is false? Easy. Ask yourself: DO THEY LOVE ME FOR WHO I AM? OR FOR WHO THEY WANT ME TO BE..? HE loved you FIRST…He will be the one who loves you LAST…and He will be the one to judge you whether you are worthy or unworthy…NOT SOMEONE ELSE.

“We love because he first loved us.

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” – 1 John 4:19-21

Recognize that you are HIS creation, that nothing anyone else says can take that away from you, and that in the end it is what HE says that matters and you will see a BLOOMING of your soul.

To recognize that you are loved without measure is the greatest feeling in the world…would THEY sacrifice themselves so that you can become something greater than you were born to? Would THEY lay down their lives, or the lives of their sons or daughters so that your beautiful spirit could ascend?

How can you bloom when they are trampling on you? How can that MAGNIFICENT spirit blossom when you are being berated every time you step inside His house?

“Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.” -Romans 13:10

Love…it is the key…the key that unlocks such VAST potential in your bud of a soul…to know you are LOVED.

Bloom with me friends..for flowers seldom grow in solitary, they are always surrounded by others…maybe not of the same color, or stem size, or even of the same TYPE…but they bloom around each other when they are where God placed them nonetheless.

Your soul is a bud..nurture it with His love, His Word, His promise…keep unhealthy things from trying to destroy it’s delicate blooming…and above all: LOVE YOURSELF, for you were put here to LOVE God, not to FEAR MAN.

“Seek good and not evil, that you may live; Then truly will the LORD, the God of hosts, be with you as you claim!

Hate evil and love good, and let justice prevail at the gate; Then it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will have pity on the remnant of Joseph.

I hate, I spurn your feasts, I take no pleasure in your solemnities;

Your cereal offerings I will not accept, nor consider your stall-fed peace offerings.

Away with your noisy songs!

I will not listen to the melodies of your harps. But if you would offer me holocausts, then let justice surge like water, and goodness like an unfailing stream.” -Book of Amos 5:14-15.21-24.

The Visitation
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Feast of the Magnificat of the Mother of God

The Archangel Gabriel, at the time of the Annunciation, informed the Mother of God that Her cousin Elizabeth had miraculously conceived and was soon to be the mother of a son, the destined precursor of the Messiah.

The Blessed Virgin in Her humility concealed the wonderful dignity to which She Herself was raised, through the Incarnation of the Son of God in Her womb, but in the transport of Her holy joy and gratitude, determined to go to congratulate and assist the mother of the Baptist.

“Mary therefore arose” Saint Luke says, “and with haste went into the hill country into a city of Judea, and entering into the house of Zachary, greeted Elizabeth.”

What a blessing did the presence of the God-Man bring to this house, the first which He in His humanity honored with His visit!

But it is Mary who is the instrument and means by which He imparts His divine blessing.

He intends to show us that She is the channel through which He delights to communicate to us His graces, and encourages us to ask them of Him through Her intercession.

At the voice of the Mother of God, by the power and grace of Her divine Son in Her womb, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit; and the infant in her womb, sanctified at that moment, conceived so great a joy as to leap and exult.

By the infused light of the Spirit of God Elizabeth understood the great mystery of the Incarnation which God had wrought in Mary, whose humility prevented Her from disclosing it, even to a Saint and an intimate friend.

In raptures of astonishment Elizabeth pronounced Mary blessed above all other women, and cried out, “How is it that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”

The Virgin, hearing Her own praise, sank yet lower in the abyss of Her nothingness, and melting in an ecstasy of love and gratitude to God, She burst into Her admirable canticle, the Magnificat: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and My spirit rejoices in God, My Saviour.”

What marvels of grace and light God reveals to us in the souls of His Saints!

Mary stayed with Her cousin almost three months, after which She returned to Nazareth.
