NO ONE BUT GOD’S SIDE…for He is my Master, and I as His servant obey Him….

In this, the latest round of Face-bleh foolery, I have watched carefully to see what I KNEW was going to happen occur, yet PRAYED others would not snap at the bait….

Last year, I myself was locked out of my account…not because of someone reporting me (as was generally thought) but because my NAME was not inside the guidelines they wished.

For the last year, at least once a month, I warned others to change their profiles…a few listened, many did not…however, this social network in the last week or so suddenly started complying with the new laws and regulations the Govt’s of the world demanded of them.

Why was everyone so surprised when it occurred?

I watched as friends turned on friends…people vanished from the site…accusations flew as to whom was responsible…heck, I was even accused of “aiding and abetting”!!!

ME…who has never chosen one side over the other without PROOF, and listening to BOTH sides of the argument…was accused of being with one side or the other…THIS IS NOT SO.

As His servant, I CANNOT choose a side….because I am ALREADY ON ONE…the side of GOD, not the petty squabbles of man, or politics.

Where am I going with this?…FORGIVENESS….yep, didn’t expect THAT one, did you?

I have spent (well, WASTED is more the word) a fair chunk of my life in hatred against others….why, it was even REWARDED that I did and ENCOURAGED to do just that. OH HOW WRONG I WAS TO THINK MYSELF WISE THEN….

About a decade ago it occurred to me whilst reading The Bible that if I continued down that path, I would not ONLY damage MY OWN soul, but that of anyone I chose to attack or lash out against.

See, we have this inborn ability to just lash out at injustice, or what we deem unfair…and anyone within earshot knows that even though it is not directed specifically at THEM, it is still rubs them the wrong way, so THEY lash out back at the person saying hateful untrue things and causing the rift to widen LARGER than before.

A good person would see these things for what they are…fear. Yep, fear and anger misdirected in the WRONG time to the WRONG PEOPLE.

If they realized this, they would seek an apology from the friend they hurt, and beg forgiveness, then work HARD to show their friend they did not mean well…

Take it from someone who has enough PRIDE to stand before them with a contrite heart and say how truly sorrowful I am. It does not belittle my manhood to admit I was wrong in lashing out, and if they are TRULY my friends, they would understand I just did not know how to deal with the situation properly…

I have studied quite hard, quite long about people and faith…but never THOUGHT to apply it to MYSELF…until a decade ago.

Now I realize that all my studying of Scripture, and of wisdom from other books, only served to show me one thing… I know MORE about humanity than I care to wish for.

What good does it serve to just start flinging accusations about? From all I have seen, it only INCREASES sorrow…friendships crumble, family disappears, and eventually you stand ALONE, or with those who are only by your side because your a rallying point for a cause…

A TRUE friend would say “What the heck are you doing? STOP THAT!”

This is why it is IMPORTANT that we remember that God is watching us at ALL times…even though we do not see Him.

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” – 1 John 4:12

Want to know what I think? I think people should really READ this part of the Bible, then look HARD inside their soul…is THIS what you want my Master to see there? Is THIS what you want on your soul??

Remember: NO ONE KNOWS when we will be called home…do you really want the last words on your lips and heart to be decrying your fellow man for not agreeing with your side?

People are happy to spout the TEN commandments…but what about the OTHER ones…the ones that JESUS set down…?

Do you TRULY wish to stand before Him in judgement having violated His commandments He told us to obey??

“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating.

Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

There is no commandment greater than these.” -Mark 12:28-31

Did He not say to us to FORGIVE one another? No, I do not mean ONLY those of our church, or ONLY those of our friends…but those who ALSO do wrong to us…

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” -Matthew 5:43-47

It is all about FORGIVENESS…Just as God forgives US, WE should forgive OTHERS…yes, even for their momentary lapse of sanity over something silly….

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” -Matthew 6: 14-15

Peace…that is all He wishes for you…and for EVERYONE around you… BE THE GOOD CHRISTIAN HE WANTS YOU TO BE…assure your place in His kingdom by DOING what He says, not just reading it..

Why do I mention this? Well, as I said I have studied A LOT…and gained much wisdom from His words…but one indisputable fact is clear to me….

“I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens.

What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind!

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

What is crooked cannot be straightened;what is lacking cannot be counted.

I said to myself, “Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.”

Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
the more knowledge, the more grief.” -Ecclesiastes 1:13-18

If all things are meaningless, then MAKE something MEANINGFUL! Make YOURSELF the emissary of His word…BECOME the person He wants you to be, and EMBRACE your enemy in brotherhood and friendship…if you do so, you will be following His GREATEST commandment….

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” -John 13:34

Our ‘clock’ started ticking with our first breath…when that clock decides to run out is only known to Him…it could happen at ANY time…MAKE YOUR TIME WORTHWHILE… stop fighting one another, and HELP one another through a crisis…with a gentle touch even a maiden can lead a lion…so too, gently touch the soul of another person with peace and love, and they will see the error of their ways and repent, and then your friendship will be stronger than ever….

“Jesus journeyed to a city called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him.

As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow.

A large crowd from the city was with her.

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted, and he said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”

The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming, “A great prophet has arisen in our midst,” and “God has visited his people.”

This report about him spread through the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.” -Luke 7:11-17.

The Stigmata of Saint Francis

Saint Bonaventure, biographer of Saint Francis of Assisi, wrote that two years before his holy death he had been praying on Mount Alverno in a solitary retreat, where he had gone to fast for forty days in honor of the Archangel Michael.

No one ever meditated more than Francis on the Passion of his Lord. During his retreat he beheld in vision a six-winged Seraph attached to a cross, and received at the same time a painful wound of the heart, which seemed to transpierce it.

When the vision ended his own hands and feet bore the marks of the angelic crucifixion which he had seen in the vision.

He understood by his vision that the soul must come to resemble Christ by the ardors of its interior fire, rather than by any physical, exterior means.

We reproduce here a meditation of the saintly 19th century Abbot, Dom Guéranger of Solemnes in France:

The Feast of the Stigmata of Saint Francis, whom we will soon honor again on his feast of October 4th, is not only to glorify a Saint; it commemorates and signifies something which goes beyond the life of any single man, even one of the greatest of the Church. The God-Man never ceases to live on in His Church, and the reproduction of His own mysteries in this Spouse whom He wants to be similar to Himself, is the explanation of history.

In the thirteenth century it seemed that charity, whose divine precept many no longer heeded, concentrated in a few souls the fires which had once sufficed to inflame multitudes.

Sanctity shone as brilliantly as ever, but the hour for the cooling of the brazier had struck for the peoples. The Church itself says so today in its liturgy, at the Collect: Lord Jesus Christ, when the world was growing cold, You reproduced the sacred marks of Your passion in the body of the most blessed Francis, in order that Your love might also set our hearts afire.’

The Spouse of Christ had already begun to experience the long series of social defections among the nations, with their denials, treasons, derision, slaps, spittings in the very praetorium, all of which conclude in the legalized separation of society from its Author.

The era of the Passion is advanced; the exaltation of the Holy Cross, which for centuries was triumphant in the eyes of the nations, acquires in the sight of heaven, as the Angels look down upon it, the aspect of an ever closer resemblance with the Spouse to the sufferings of her crucified Beloved.

Saint Francis, loved today by all who know of him — and few there are who do not — was like precious marble placed before an expert sculptor.

The Holy Spirit chose the flesh of the seraph of Assisi to express His divine thought, thus manifesting to the world the very specific direction He intends to give to souls thereafter.

This stigmatization offers a first example, a complete image, of the new labor the divine Spirit is meditating — total union, on the very Cross of Christ itself, of the mystical Body with the divine Head. Francis is the one honored by this primacy of choice; but after him the sacred sign will be received by others, who also personify the Church.

From this time on, the Stigmata of the Lord Jesus will be at all times visible, here and there on this earth.
